Our Story
The North Georgia News began publishing in 1909, making it one of Georgia's longest-running community newspapers. Through world wars, economic changes, and technological advances, we've remained committed to one mission: serving Union County with honest, accurate local journalism.
Today, under the leadership of publisher Kenneth West and editor Shawn Jarrard, NGN continues that tradition. We cover county commission meetings, school board decisions, local business openings, high school sports, community events, and the people who make Union County special.
As a locally-owned newspaper, we understand what matters to our readers because we're part of this community. We shop at the same stores, attend the same events, and care about the same issues. That local connection makes us different—and it's why businesses trust advertising with NGN to reach their neighbors.
